Halloween {Heat-N-Bond} Shirt

Ever since I first experimented with heat-n-bond and my cutting with my cricut I knew I wanted to make my nephew a shirt... since Halloween is quickly approaching I made him a Halloween shirt to wear to school!

I purchased a toddler shirt (size 2-4) from Hobby Lobby for $2.50, used some remnant Halloween fabric, heat-n-bond, my cricut, and both the Happy Hauntings Cartridge & the Pumpkin Carving Solutions Cartridge!

I followed my directions that I wrote up here for the heat-n-bond.

Here is the finished project, and a happy baby to boot!

Modeling his shirt from his crafty Aunt!

He was loving the spiders... he couldn't stop laughing at them!

{Tutorial} Halloween Silhouette Plates

Recently, I've scene quite a few blog post on making silhouette plates. I love the concept, but it just isn't my style... until I realized I could make HALLOWEEN silhouette plates!!! After this "aha" moment I experience I was off to the thrift store to find me some plates! 4 plates for .69 cents and one plate for $1.99 and I was ready to start this project! I already had the spray paint at home, and I knew I could find more than enough cool Halloween cut-outs via one of the three Halloween cricut cartridges I own. Since these were for Halloween I wanted to spray the plates black to give more of a dark and eerie feel.

Materials Needed:
Black Spray Paint
Drop Cloth
Old Plates
Spray Adhesive
Adhesive Plate Hangers
Cut-outs for plates (using paper)
Picture hooks and nails

1. Clean the plates really well. Lay a drop cloth outside and position plates. Spray evenly with black spray paint until well coated. Then turn the plates over and spray the back *trying not to spray in the middle circle.

2. Next, you will want to cut out your desired silhouettes. With spray adhesive spray the paper cut out then adhere it on to the plate. Once the plates have dried transport them one by one. DO NOT stack these plates. I did this with one of the plates and ended up having to re-spray paint the plate! It will leave a ring around the plate.
3. Next, you will want to adhere the adhesive plate disk to each of the plates. Follow the directions given on the package. The disc will need to dry 24 hours before hanging on the wall. After the 24 hours have passed test the disc to make sure they are sturdy enough.
Hang the plates and enjoy!

*Big thanks to Ashley for allowing me to come over and make a few larger cuts on her cricut!!!

{Sneak Peak} Apothecary Bottle

I found this gem at the thrift store the other day for $3.99. As soon as I saw it I instantly knew it was a great investment and had potential. I envisioned a few cut outs from my cricut and some mod podge. I'm so happy with how it came out. I can't wait to show everyone the rest of the bottles I'm working on {post to come next week}!

Tutorial: Monogramed Tile Coasters

I've scene this tutorial on mutltiple blogs--so many that I think it would take up my whole post to name all the tutorials. I figured I would host my own tutorial; to add to the hundreds of others out there! This is a pretty simple project, and makes for a great inexpensive gift (or simply to just spice up a boring coffee table)! The first time I made these was for a house warming gift (see the picture in our header). *I labeled this as $10 project giving the cost of all the supplies involved. Once you own the supplies this comes out to less than $5 for the set of 4 coasters.

Supplies Needed:
- 4 Ceramic 4.25” x 4.25” inch tiles
- 4 (4x4 inch) pieces of foam (or cork)
- Mod Podge, Matte
- Spray Adhesive & super glue
- Old gift card (for spreading glue)
- Sponge brush
- 1 piece of 12x12 scrapbook paper (cut into four, 4x4 pieces)
- 4 letter cut outs of choice
- Crystal clear acrylic spray

First you will want to adhere the foam onto the bottom of the tile using spray adhesive. (This will help protect the surface the coaster will reside on.) You will also want to add a drop of super glue to each corner of the foam. This will guarantee that the foam will not come off the tile.

Next you will want to apply a generous layer of mod podge to the top of the tile. Then add a single layer of 4x4 scrapbook paper to the top of the tile that has modge podge on it. You will want to use an old gift card to gently move the bubbles from underneath the paper. Once you've done this you will want to place mod podge on the edges of the title and seal the edges. I like the wrapped look, so I typically have a smidge of overage that I need to wrap around the tile. Once this is done apply a generous coat of mod podge to the top layer. Let it dry before continuing onto the next step.

Next, you will apply another layer of modge podge onto the top of the scrapbook paper, then add your cut out letter of choice. I used the Happy Hauntings "spooky font" (can't remember the exact size) and cut it out with my cricut.  Make sure you modge podge over the letter as well, and then let it dry.

Add two more layers of mod podge to the tile (letting it dry in between the two additional layers). This will ensure that the coaster is sealed and will prevent any future water damage. *You'll notice that the mod podge goes on white. It will dry clear. Don't worry!

Lastly, you will want to spray a thin layer of crystal clear acrylic to each coaster top to ensure that no moisture gets into the coaster. This will also give a nice shine.

Here is the finished product!

{Sneak Peak} Happy Hauntings Cartridge Frame

Here is a sneak peak of my first mini Halloween project I did using the Happy Hauntings Cricut Cartridge. I was so excited when it arrived in the mail the other week that I needed to make something ASAP! This Halloween cartridge is packed with all sorts of cool features; from creepy lettering, to 3-D features-- it has it all! I made a very small 2.5 inch magnetic frame. The instructions on how to create this frame were very easy (and provided at the front of the flip book). I can't wait to make larger frames to give to family and friends! This cartridge retails for $69.99 on provo craft's website, but I won it on ebay for $36 including shipping (which is about the going rate for all online craft stores).

Here is more information on the cartridge via the Provo Craft website: "Create the perfect spooky atmosphere this Halloween! The Happy Hauntings cartridge is overflowing with iconic Halloween images: classic monsters, cats, bats, headstones, jack-o-lanterns, and more. You will absolutely love the phrases, fonts, and 3D images including coffins, headstones, and even a haunted house!

This cartridge includes: Layer 1, Layer 2, Phrase, Spooky Font, Vampire Font, and Vampire Shadow creative features."

Stay tuned for more cool projects from this awesome cartridge!
